RPS or Registered Public Surveyors came into being in 1955 then revamped to RPLS or Registered Professional Land Surveyor circa 1992. I don’t remember when the rule was changed, but at one time, you could be an LSLS and not an RPLS.

Surveying is inherently dangerous and we all do what we can to minimize risk. It’s hard to justify twice the cost for the same amount of work (in most instances) when comparing a 2-man to a 1-man crew. It really all depends on your type of work and the safety issues you typically run into.
